Book-cloth starts as plain cotton, woven then starched under pressure until it takes a crease at the hinge and holds it for decades — the same stock binderies have trusted for two hundred years. Ours comes in a quiet ash grey, closer to the colour of a fire the morning after than to anything showy. The hard cover is sewn rather than glued at the spine, wrapped over 2.5mm board, and finished with an elastic closure and a pen holder so nothing rattles loose in transit. Comes in A5 or B5, dot grid or unruled.

Customised and foil-stamped orders are made to your specification and can’t be returned, so we send a proof for approval before we bind.
Care
Handloom and cotton covers are textile — keep them out of prolonged direct sun and away from water. Cork and kraft wipe clean with a dry cloth. The spine will soften with use; that is the book settling, not wearing out.
